MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ increases the clock to 3.4 GHz and supports LLM Llama 3 and others

--

Company MediaTek today introduced a new mobile processor Dimensions 9300+. The news brings minor changes in two areas. The first is an increase in the clock rate of the main core, the second is the support of a large number of LLM, i.e. artificial intelligence algorithms. The original Dimensity 9300 is a processor that has 4 Cortex-X4 cores and 4 Cortex-A720 cores, so it is completely without the economical A5xx cores (however, the A720 cores used have their clocks). While one X4 was said at launch to be clocked at 3.25GHz, the other three X4s at 2.85GHz and the A720 running at 2.0GHz, the current version of the specs on MediaTek’s website claims that all X4 cores have 3.25 GHz. Anyway, the new Dimensity 9300+ model increases the clock speed of the most powerful core to 3.4 GHz. Single-threaded performance on the main core could thus increase by 4-5%. Another X4 triple has 2.85 GHz and the A720 quad is at 2.0 GHz. We have 18 MB L3+SLC cache, support for LPDDR5X and LPDDR5T-9600 memories, and the processor is manufactured by TSMC using 4nm technology.

Furthermore, there is a 12-core ARM Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU with support for H.264, H.265, VP-9 and AV1 video, it also handles hardware ray-tracing, and there is also a powerful chip for generative AI, the MediaTek APU 790. Nothing major here does not change, Dimensity 9300+ nevertheless receives official support for LLM 01.AI Yi-Nano, Alibaba Cloud Qwen LLM, Baichuan AI, ERNIE-3.5-SE, Google Gemini Nano, Meta Llama 2 and Llama 3.

The processor will offer UFS 4 storage support. Its ISP can handle up to a 320MPx camera, it can record 8K30p or 4K60p video, but the phone’s display can be up to 4K/120Hz or WQHD/180Hz and it also has special technology against image burn-in for AMOLED displays. It goes without saying that the high-end chipset supports 5G in both the Sub-6GHz and mmWave bands. We also have fast Wi-Fi 7 (up to 6.5 Gbps) and Bluetooth 5.4.
