UPDATE: Jalen Brunson returns to court for halftime warmups

Brunson returned to the court for halftime warmups, greeted by a huge ovation and chants of “MVP!” from the crowd.

Jalen Brunson leaves Game 2

Jalen Brunson has been on a tear in the playoffs, but now there’s some question about the status of the Knicks’ star guard for the rest of Game 2.

Brunson left his team’s game against the Pacers in the Eastern Conference semifinals Wednesday night late in the first quarter. The team later announced that Brunson was questionable to return because of a sore right foot.

It’s unclear when the injury occurred.

Brunson went back to the locker room after leaving the game. His father and Knicks assistant coach Rick Brunson then left the bench, while team president Leon Rose was not in his seat for much of the second quarter.

Rick Brunson and Rose later returned while Jalen Brunson remained in the locker room.

Brunson had five points when he left the game.

Coming into Game 2, Brunson had scored 40 points in four consecutive playoff games (he had 39 in the game immediately preceding that streak).

Without Brunson, the Knicks clearly are going to face an uphill climb.

But the team and its entire fanbase is now hoping the injury isn’t serious.
