“The main reasons for the current drop in fuel prices are the drop in oil prices on world markets and the strengthening of the koruna against the dollar, in which oil is traded,” Trinity Bank Chief Economist Lukáš Kovanda commented.
Over the past two weeks, Brent crude has become cheaper by less than five percent, while the koruna has strengthened by more than one percent against the dollar at the same time. “In the next seven days, these pressures will further be reflected in the overall decline in fuel prices,” added Kovanda.

According to him, gasoline should be cheaper by about 40 halers per liter, and diesel by 50. Further reductions in fuel prices can also be expected in the second half of May.
XTB analyst Jiří Tyleček also sees room for discounting. “The potential for discounting is in ten-halers, more so for diesel. Refinery margins are falling,” he said on CRo Plus.

Motorists from the Karlovy Vary region have the cheapest gasoline, where they pay 39.43 crowns per liter. It costs only two pennies more in the Ústí Region.
On the contrary, it costs the most without competition, with a price of 40.76 pennies per liter in the capital. There is also the most expensive diesel. Drivers pay an average of 39.60 crowns for it. Here too, however, fuel prices have fallen. The cheapest is in the Ústí Region, 37.37 crowns.
Fuel prices began to decrease at the end of April, before their prices had been rising for more than a month. Compared to the situation a year ago, gasoline is now about three kroner more expensive per liter than a year ago, while motorists paid 6.29 kroner less per liter for diesel.
