A total of 15 glass statuettes with an element of natural amber were taken away from the Amber Awards ceremony by the artists for their extraordinary performances last year and a lifetime’s work dedicated to the Moravian-Silesian region.

Aleš Honus, organizer of the Jantar Awards: “The nominations for the Jantar Awards are decided by 8 expert juries, and the 9th jury is a panel of experts that decides on the Lifetime Achievement Award. 15 statuettes were given out today and I believe they are in the right hands, although I think all the nominees deserve the prize. The quality is high this year.”

Artists won the most prizes for their roles in the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre.

Kamila Janovičová, NDM Ostrava, Jantar Award for the main role of Nora in Ibsen’s drama: “The collaboration was fantastic, I really appreciate it and I’m glad that people noticed it and liked it.”

Shino Sakurado, NDM Ostrava, Jantar Award for performance in the production Hora: “I am very happy, it is the second time in my career and I am really proud of this award. Thank you very much.”

Nikol Bóková, Jantar Award for the Expedition album: “It’s already my second Jantar, because last year I even got it for two albums that came out before and it’s still just as beautiful.”

Lukáš Curylo (KDU-ČSL), deputy governor of the MS region: “I am very happy that we have such talents who are born in our region or are connected to our region by working here. You can see that we really have a lot of talent here.”

Lucie Vilamová Baránková (ANO), mayor of Ostrava-Poruby: “Like every year, I think the Jantar Awards did not disappoint, both in terms of content and those awarded. I really appreciate and am glad that the NDM, but also Bezruč and other institutions established by the city of Ostrava, collect prizes and are really successful within the whole WC region.”

Actor Norbert Lichý and singer Patricia Burda Janečková received the Jantar Award for lifetime contribution in memoriam.

The Jantar Awards ceremony will also offer a number of other unique performances – the audience can look forward to singer-songwriter and popular actor Vladimír Javorský, who will sing with his band at the gala evening.
