Nunemployment in the Czech Republic fell to 3.7 percent in April, it was 0.2 percentage points lower in May. Last April, unemployment was 3.6 percent, 261,683 people were out of work and 284,530 job vacancies at that time. Unemployment in the Czech Republic is the second lowest in the European Union according to the number of jobs.

Unemployment fell in all 14 regions and in 72 out of 77 eska districts. Unemployment was the highest in April in the Stec region – 5.9 percent. On the contrary, Prague and the Vysoina Region had the lowest unemployment, where it reached 2.8 percent. Among the districts, unemployment was the highest in Karvinska, where it reached 8.1 percent. The district of Praha-vchod registered the lowest number of unemployed, where 1.5 percent of people were looking for work.

April’s unemployment rate fell largely due to the dramatic increase in seasonal jobs in construction, agriculture and services, and thanks to the return to activities that did not function during the winter, the ad prze said. “The number of registered job applications was 12,032 fewer than the number of registered vacancies in April,” he pointed out.

“Unemployment has fallen in all regions and in an overwhelming fifth of the districts to the ground. Seasonal work in construction, agriculture, but also services plays a big role, as does the fact that people are returning to their activities. The number of job vacancies has essentially stagnated for the fourth month in a row,” noted the editor-in-chief of adu work R Daniel Kritof.

On average, there was one job application per job vacancy in April. The highest unemployment rate on the labor market was in the Karvin region with 10.8 applicants for one position. On the contrary, Mladoboleslavska had the least number of unemployed in relation to the number of places on offer, there were five vacancies per applicant.

The number of people in the register of employment numbers also includes unemployed people who cannot start work immediately. They are, for example, people on retraining courses, unemployed women on maternity leave, prisoners or unemployed on disability. In April, there were 256,822 so-called mature job applications between the ages of 15 and 64 who could start work immediately, which is 8,314 more than in the previous year.
