“We are investigating the cause of the explosion and subsequent fire in cooperation with the police. Various stored materials were on fire at the site,” said regional fire department spokesman Zdeněk Hošák.
“Firefighters provided first aid to the injured and called in paramedics,” added Hošák.
According to the spokesperson of the regional rescue service, the injured are not life-threatening. “It was nothing serious, luckily,” said Lucie Mikisková.
One of the women suffered smoke inhalation and shock. The other one has a head injury, which was caused by the door that blew apart during the explosion. “After the arrival of paramedics, both women were conscious. After treatment, the ambulance took them to the border hospital for observation,” said the spokeswoman.
Minor damage to the house
According to Hošák, the fire was on a smaller area roughly one meter by one meter. “There was minor damage to the house. The damage is estimated at one hundred and fifty thousand crowns,” added the spokesperson.
Firefighters from Olomouc, Přerov and Lipník nad Bečvou responded to the scene. “They were also helped by the local Jezernice volunteer unit,” explained the spokesperson. Timely intervention of firefighters saved values in the amount of three and a half million crowns.
The police have not yet commented on the case.
