“One person has been detained and we are no longer looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.” quoting the BBC from a police statement. The school remained closed for several hours.

“There’s a lot of police and a lot of parents are waiting for their children to be able to leave school – we understand they’re keeping them there for their safety.” a BBC reporter reports from the scene.

In the early evening, the police specified that they detained a teenage student on suspicion of attempted murder. She stabbed two teachers, the third victim is a minor.

The school is attended by about 1800-2000 students between 11 and 18 years old from the wider area. Formerly a mining town in East Wales, Ammanford has a population of about five thousand. “It’s a quiet area and a nice school with a good community. We can’t take what happened,” the Daily Mail quotes one of the mothers. “My daughter saw the air ambulance landing outside. It’s unreal.”

Councilor Karen Davies, who is in charge of the school, said two school staff were among the injured. “I have no confirmation of how serious the injuries are,” she told Wales Online.
