According to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, Russia is already producing more weapons and ammunition than it needs to invade Ukraine. He said this on ARD television on Wednesday. According to the German minister, it can be traced that in Russia, with the rising expenditure on armaments and the introduction of a war economy, “a large part or part of what is newly produced certainly does not go to the front, but ends up in warehouses.”

At the same time, Pistorius warned against further military ambitions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, DPA writes. “Now it’s possible to be naive and say he’s just doing it out of caution. But as a skeptic, I would say that he is doing it because he has or could have something planned,” said Pistorius.
When asked if he agreed with the estimates of representatives of the Baltic states, according to which Russia could be ready to attack NATO territory in a few years, Pistorius said that this was “divination from a crystal ball”. “What military experts and weapons experts are saying is that Russia is arming itself,” he added.
The Inspector General of the German Army, Carsten Breuer, said during a visit to Warsaw a few days ago that if Russia decides to do so, it could be militarily ready to attack NATO countries in five to eight years. He also said that “we observe that Russia produces a large amount of war material and that it does not send all this material to the front in Ukraine.”
The Russian invasion of Ukraine the year before last February brought relations between Moscow and the West into the deepest crisis in decades. Russia has repeatedly denied that it was considering an attack on NATO.
