Journalists of the prestigious American newspaper New York Times is angry with President Joe Biden. In their opinion, he avoids journalists.

“It should be troubling to anyone who understands the role of a free press in a democracy that President Biden has so actively and effectively avoided questions from independent journalists throughout his tenure,” the Times began its statement. “The president holds the most important office in our nation, and the press plays a vital role in providing insights into his thinking and worldview, allowing the public to judge his record and hold him accountable.”

Journalists from the New York Times say that Biden has given far too few interviews compared to virtually all of his predecessors in recent decades.

“Biden has given far fewer press conferences and interviews with independent journalists than virtually all of his predecessors. If the president chooses not to sit down with The Times because he doesn’t like our independent reporting, that’s his right, and we’ll continue to cover him fully and fairly, both ways,” the New York Times reporters added.

The prestigious American newspaper is concerned that Joe Biden’s behavior does not become a precedent that would be used by other presidents. They pointed out that Biden should give an interview to the Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, Politico and other media.

Server Fox News addedthat people closest to Biden reportedly see the paper as “arrogant.”

But journalists see it differently.

“They’re not realistic about what we do for a living,” Elisabeth Bumiller told Politico, the NYT’s Washington bureau chief. “You can be a support for democracy, liberal democracy. You don’t have to be a prop for the Biden White House.”

Until Biden became president, he is said to have been friendly and approachable to journalists for the entire period of about half a century in politics. But already at the beginning of Biden’s presidency, things started to change.
