  • Not all Western weapons have proven effective. Bombs, from which much was expected, disappointed.
  • Russian tanks are attacking Krasnohorivka, the front line in the city has moved on again – tanks/turtles are entering the fighting.
  • What went wrong at Očeretyne and what is at stake now. Criticism of the 115th Brigade is probably unfair.
  • Map of the day – Očeretyne and surroundings.
  • Videos of the day – tank attack in Krasnohorivka; more tanks/turtles; The Su-25 and the drone were meters away from the collision in the air; a Russian drone caught a Ukrainian in a net; American aid is on the way.

The information in this text is a summary of events for Thursday, April 25. Meanwhile, the situation in some places may be different.

Not all Western weapons have proven effective. The bombs, from which much was expected, disappointed. The Ukrainian army has no chance of resisting without supplies of Western weapons. Many have worked extremely well, but some have not. The second category includes, for example, switchblade kamikaze drones. The Americans already sent those to Ukraine in 2022, but they proved to be unreliable and not very effective. In their case, however, it is not a weapon from which there were great expectations, so they did not attract much attention.

Conversely, high hopes were placed on GLSDB bombs and Abrams tanks. In no case have they been fulfilled yet, for various reasons.

As we’ll explain later, the Abrams withdrawal is temporary, but the GLSDB failure appears to be permanent. Bill LaPlante, US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Procurement, informed about it. The details were explained by the specialized American website War Zone.

“One company, I won’t say which one, came up with a really good idea to convert an aircraft-launched weapon into a ground-launched version to make it a long-range weapon,” LaPlante said of the history of the project. “They worked as fast as they could.” US officials even agreed to shorten the standard testing program to get the weapon to the defending country as soon as possible. “And so we sent them to the Ukrainians. It did not work.”

Why did it happen? LaPlante
