I have come to the conclusion that we can only fix our relations on the political spectrum with someone else in the ele (party), said Yousaf at a press conference in Edinburgh. He stated that he had underestimated how much code would be stuffed into me by the end of the coalition, per the BBC.

Yousaf called on the party secretary to start the search for a new chairman. He intended to keep the current prime minister in office until his successor is chosen.

The pressure on the ruling coalition in Scotland was triggered last week by the Scottish government’s decision to scrap its climate target, which was aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 75 percent by 2030. The target was part of the 2021 agreement, when nationalists failed to achieve absolute zero.

The party is not so united in its view of the new Scottish law, which began to apply last month and which is supposed to protect against hateful expressions of a number of social groups, including gender changes. Yousaf called it a reaction to the rising tide of hatred. British writer Joanne Rowling, for example, also condemned the law.

According to Reuters, the Scottish Parliament now has 28 days to choose a new first minister before a forced election, with the possible successors being SNP leader John Swinney and Yousaf’s rival Kate Forbes. If the SNP fails to find a new leader who would gain support in parliament, elections will be held.

Sturgeon’s surprising successor

Yousaf became the leader of the SNP and then the first minister of Scotland last March after the departure of Nicola Sturgeon. He was the first politician in this position who is a Muslim. When making a promise, he wears a traditional Pakistani Alvr kameez suit in black.

Yousaf was born on April 7, 1985 in Glasgow, his father immigrated to Scotland from Pakistan, his mother was born in Kenya. He studied political science at the University of Glasgow, then worked as an assistant to Bashir Ahmad, who in 2007 was the first Muslim MP elected to the Scottish Parliament. Before being elected to parliament in 2011, Yousaf was in charge of media relations in the SNP, which he joined after studying at the university in 2005.

In 2012, he started working for the government of then Prime Minister Alex Salmond. Until 2014, he was the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development. In the following Sturgeon government, he was briefly in charge of European affairs from November 2014, and in 2016 he was appointed Deputy Minister for Transport and Islands.

During the reorganization of the Sturgeon government in June 2018, he was nominally the secretary of the Minister of Justice. During his mandate, he oversaw the introduction of new legislation, the so-called Criminal Crimes Act in Scotland. In 2021, Yousaf became the Minister of Health, during his mandate he was responsible for the covid-19 pandemic and related problems in the health system.

In November 2016, Yousaf was fined £300 and given six points by the police after hitting him in the back of his friend’s car without a warrant. Yousaf took full responsibility. I totally agree with this decision. I made a mistake due to current personal issues, he said.

Yousaf is a subspecies of enat. After marrying party colleague Gail Lythoe in 2010 and 2017, he married therapist Nadia El-Nakla in 2019, and they have a daughter together.
