On Sunday, Moscow reported the capture of the Ukrainian village of Novobachmutivka. It is located near the village of Očeretyne, which has recently become a focus of fighting and, according to the media, the Russians control a large part of it.
The Ukrainian General Staff said in its regular morning operational briefing on Monday that its troops repelled enemy attacks near Semenivka as well as on other sections of the front line.
Nevertheless, the commander of the Ukrainian army admitted at the weekend that the situation on the frontline had worsened for the Ukrainian defenders. “Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have moved to new lines west of Berdych, Semenivka and Novomykhaylivka (…) Overall, the enemy achieved certain tactical successes in these areas, but failed to gain operational superiority,” said Syrskyj.
According to him, the Ukrainian troops are trying to maintain their combat capability by retreating.
