Charles III returned to the public after weeks, visited oncology

--

Apart from the service on Easter Sunday, the king has recently avoided public events and gatherings of people. But last week, the royal palace issued a more positive report about the health of the 75-year-old monarch. Doctors are said to be “very encouraged by the progress” the patient has made in treating an unspecified form of cancer.

According to the BBC, this means that Charles III. is able to begin a gradual return to public activities. A visit to the mentioned clinic in the center of the British metropolis is the symbolic start of this process.

As news of the king’s visit leaked, a small group of rock fans had already gathered at the clinic before his arrival. “I’ll tell him I’ve been praying for him and that Queen Camilla is doing a great job for him,” said John Loughrey, 69, who bought roses to give to the monarch on the way, according to the Daily Mail.

Mr Loughrey lost his own partner Marion when she succumbed to cancer just two months after being diagnosed 21 years ago. “I know exactly what the King and Queen are going through. I experienced it even with the loss of a partner,” he added.

The King, who smiled and waved to supporters as he arrived at the clinic, was scheduled to meet Professor Carl Swanton, one of Britain’s leading experts in the field of oncology.

Although the British mood about the king’s health is slightly more positive than a few weeks ago, their optimism remains cautious. The monarch’s treatment is still ongoing, and the doctors have not yet set a date for its completion.

According to the media, it is expected that Charles III. he will be fit enough to attend commemorations in June to mark the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings and host the Emperor and Empress of Japan as head of state that same month.
