Realistic video in a few clicks. China has a new AI system

--

Vidu’s AI system (artificial intelligence system) allows users to create a high-definition video of up to sixteen seconds in just a few clicks, which can easily compete with professional filmmakers. Even without cameras and building expensive scenes, Vidu can create videos that are indistinguishable from reality. And it doesn’t matter if we’re talking about the natural movement of water or the busy night panorama of the city.

According to the creators, Vidu differs from competing AI video creation systems in that it can also work with culturally specific elements. In particular, he can brilliantly incorporate pandas into Chinese themes.

The first samples, which are already circulating on social networks, indicate that Vidu will not only match competing systems, but in some ways even surpass them, Medium reported. At the same time, he alluded primarily to the visual consistency of the produced videos.

What can Sora do?

However, ChatGPT’s Sora can create videos of up to 60 seconds with highly detailed scenes, complex camera movement and many characters with vivid emotions.

“Beautiful snowy Tokyo is full of life. The camera pans down a busy city street and follows several people enjoying the beautiful, snowy weather and shopping at nearby stalls. Beautiful sakura petals fly in the wind along with snowflakes,” the creators of the new AI capabilities presented at https://twitter.com/OpenAI/status/1758192957386342435.

The mentioned realistic video with footage of Tokyo can be viewed below, and in the beginning of this article you will find another series of three samples directly from OpenAI.

However, Sora is currently only available to select users who can test it. Since the new AI system debuted last week, despite this limitation, social networks have been flooded with new creations.

A German shepherd turned into a cyborg, a tiger made of flowers or a historical view of California during the gold rush. Despite how realistic all the videos below look, they are Sora’s creations.

However, the head of OpenAI, Sam Altman, has previously pointed out that the current test model still has weaknesses, for example, it may have problems obeying the laws of physics in complex scenes. But it is the tests that should show the weaknesses of the system, so that the creators can eliminate them even before the new artificial intelligence system is made available to the general public.

However, representatives of the OpenAI company have not yet revealed when this will happen.

Job concerns and misinformation

These innovations open the door to new possibilities in the world of digital content, but also raise questions about ethics and security. There are concerns that this technology could negatively impact the job market for artists and content creators by simplifying and automating the video creation process. Another risk is potential abuse in the spread of misinformation and fake news, which poses a challenge to regulators and society as a whole.

Therefore, even the creators of artificial intelligence themselves are calling for the introduction of clear standards that will ensure the safe use of advanced technologies. OpenAI is one of the leading players trying to shape the discussion, not only through its technologies, but also through open dialogue with the public and regulators.

A phenomenon called ChatGPT

Artificial intelligence has taken center stage with the development of ChatGPT. This chat system can generate a variety of texts including articles, essays, jokes and poetry based on simple queries. ChatGPT learns to respond to user input and, like humans, learns from large amounts of data.

In March 2023, a more advanced GPT-4 AI model was made available. The latter is able to provide safer and more useful answers and pave the way for the spread of human-like technologies.

The web application is offered by OpenAI for free, but this only applies to the older version of the chatbot GPT-3.5. GPT-4’s more advanced artificial intelligence can only be used by subscription owners. This will cost potential applicants $20 per month, i.e. approximately CZK 453.

ChatGPT is behind OpenAI, a start-up funded by Microsoft.
