What to wear as a wedding guest: Dress colors and style

If you have said yes to an invitation to a wedding, the question of what you will wear has certainly flashed through your mind. Yes, this big day belongs primarily to brides, but who wouldn’t be pleased with compliments on their dress?

If you have the date carefully circled in your diary, you can skip to fashion. On the day of the wedding, the newlyweds (practically rather the bride) have the main say, so if you received the invitation together with the given dress code or maybe the recommended colors, try to stick to them. If you don’t have any clues, you can ask the main actors directly about them. But do it well in advance – burdening the bride with questions about what to wear a few days before the wedding is inappropriate.

Your choice should also correspond with the place where the wedding is taking place, as well as its character. While you can choose a dress made of lighter materials for a garden party, for a wedding held in a castle it is more appropriate to choose a more sober model that exudes elegance.

Also, remember the number one rule that only the bride has a monopoly on the white dress on her wedding day. We do not recommend even going into close shades, such as light cream, but you can make an exception if this color is only in the base and is complemented by prints. Black is not suitable either, which is considered a mourning color in our region, but a dark jacket thrown over your shoulders will probably not blame you.

We also recommend avoiding dresses that are too short, extra deep necklines or translucent materials. Wedding attire should appear solemn, dignified and elegant.

Which specific pieces to reach for? The easiest choice is, of course, dresses, which you will find the most in our selection. Models in soft pastel shades are a safe bet, but dresses with subtle floral prints are also great for summer weddings. You can also go for trendy satin or silk, which looks very festive and luxurious. By the way, a satin skirt is also a piece that you can use when putting together an outfit. If you add the right top, jacket and heels, you will look great.

If you are looking for something other than a dress, we recommend looking at overalls, which are not only stylish, but also very comfortable to wear. You can also choose from trouser suits, which will not lie in your wardrobe even after the wedding. In addition, they can be separated and worn separately. If you are going to choose a new set for the wedding, skip the dark color and lean towards shades such as pastel pink, light yellow, or even bright blue.
