“It will rain heavily, especially in the belt above the center of Germany,” said meteorologist Felix Dietzsch. It should rain 35 to 40 liters per square meter. Intense rainfall can fluctuate the levels of some smaller rivers and cause local flooding. Gusts of wind should reach speeds of 60 to 100 km/h, the German DWD warns.

In the afternoon and night on Tuesday, storms will move towards the Czech Republic, warn meteorologists. During violent storms, in the Czech Republic it may rain in places over 50 mm by Tuesday morning. Experts from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute expect the strongest storms in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands.

Until the middle of the week, rainy weather should prevail in Germany with average temperatures around 14 degrees Celsius. The turning point should not occur until Thursday, when the Germans have a day off and celebrate the feast of the Ascension of the Lord, when the rains should stop and the temperatures should rise.

During the afternoon, storms should also reach Austria. Lower Austria and Tyrol are to be affected, they should arrive in Vienna in the evening. Meteorologists warn that they may cause local flooding in the Austrian capital. The risk of thunderstorms will increase in the evening, especially in Flachgau and Upper Austria.
