Fico launched criticism of the EU in a speech towards the end of the war

--

“After all, the European Union was created as a peace project. I am very disappointed with the European Union for not being able to offer a meaningful peace plan for this conflict that is currently taking place in Ukraine,” Fico said in a speech he broadcast live on his Facebook profile.

The head of the Slovak government described the absence of a peace plan for Ukraine as a great sign of the EU’s weakness. “A huge, economically powerful organization cannot stand on its own two feet in matters of foreign policy,” Fico added.

The Slovak Prime Minister repeated that his government wants to implement a sovereign Slovak foreign policy oriented towards all four sides of the world. “The world is not only the West. It also has a north, a south and certainly an east,” added Fico.

The head of the Slovak government also said again in his speech that the soldiers of the Red Army had the biggest share in the victory over fascism.

He also stated that Slovakia will not agree to send troops to Ukraine. “Whatever the decisions of some representatives of the European Union, the Slovak Republic will never agree to a soldier from the Slovak Republic entering the territory of Ukraine,” he declared. Any sending of soldiers abroad is the responsibility of Bratislava.

Pellegrini’s offer

Slovak President-elect Peter Pellegrini (Voice) said that Slovakia is ready to offer Bratislava for peace talks to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. Pellegrini said this at the Monument to the Slovak National Uprising in Banská Bystrica.

According to Pellegrini, guns are also being rattled in other parts of Europe and the world in connection with the war in Ukraine. “There is talk of deploying soldiers directly into the Russian-Ukrainian war. Many are preparing plans for a war conflict and diplomacy is consolidating its vocabulary,” Pellegrini pointed out.

“At this memorial, I want to make a clear call to replace the rattling of guns with peaceful negotiations as soon as possible, before it is too late and the whole situation gets out of hand. Let’s talk about a ceasefire, about peace scenarios, let’s activate diplomacy and see weapons as the last resort,” added the next Slovak president.
