Electric buses with a minimum capacity of 110 passengers and a range of at least 100 kilometers will cost tens of millions of crowns.

Prague Airport will buy six airport electric buses. They will be primarily intended for transporting passengers to and from airplanes. Airport spokesperson Klára Divíšková told Deník Zdopravy.cz.

“The tender is currently in the process and we will not comment on its completion yet. However, the purchase amount is in the order of tens of millions of crowns, while we expect delivery of the vehicles by the end of 2026,” said Divíšková.

The deadline for submitting bids ended at the end of April. The supplier will be decided by an electronic auction, in which the bid price will be the determining factor. It will take place in one round, and its duration should be 30 minutes with possible extensions of five minutes.

The minimum required range of the electric bus is 100 kilometers

It follows from the tender documentation that the airport wants to remove the two electric buses as soon as possible. The supplier will also provide service for a period of eight years. The required technical parameters include the dimensions of one electric bus, a maximum of 15 x 3.2 x 3.15 meters, a capacity of at least 110 passengers, of which 10% are seated, a 24-month warranty on the vehicle and at least six years on the battery, while its capacity must not fall below 80% original capacity.

The electric bus must travel at least 100 kilometers within standard airport traffic and have at least three doors on each side. Other requirements are part of the tender documentation.

As reported by Ekonomický deník, Prague Airport plans to purchase two more electric buses for excursions in addition to the above tender. The plan is also to purchase 12 Mercedes electric vans, 15 Fiat 600E cars and three Škoda Enyaq cars. Today, the airport already owns thirty Dacia Spring cars, three Skoda Enyaqs and one Nissan N200.
