The Americans are returning to Europe, or so far only to Germany, where they are offering their five-meter Cadillac Lyriq electric car. Surprisingly, this is not a bad buy at all.

Europeans have always looked down on American cars. We tolerated the legendary Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Corvette and similar powerful and somewhat interesting cars, the rest seemed quite tragic to us. And often justifiably so. However, the quality of overseas production has increased significantly. In addition, the American Tesla with its Model Y dominated local sales last year, when it became the most popular car on our continent. It was the first such victory for the USA in history.

And it was the success of Tesla that evidently inspired the rival brand Cadillac to once again go to the other side of the Atlantic and try to succeed here several times. This time, she also prepared a really interesting offer for us.

After Switzerland, you can also buy the five-meter electric SUV Lyriq with a wheelbase of 3,094 millimeters in neighboring Germany. It is powered by a pair of electric motors with a system output of 388 kilowatts. The mentioned Tesla Model Y Long Range with four wheels is ten kilowatts weaker. The luxury American SUV reaches 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and accelerates to 210 km/h. And it also has a huge smaller battery.

If the Tesla relies on a traction battery with a total capacity of 78 kWh, the Cadillac Lyriq received a package with 102 kilowatt hours and a range of 530 kilometers. However, it also weighs like a small family house because of it. The curb weight of 2,774 kilograms is one of the highest even among otherwise quite heavy electric cars.

Thanks to its very generous external proportions, the lyriq boasts a very spacious cabin and a boot volume of at least 793 litres.

In Germany, customers can choose from two variants: Luxury AWD and Sport AWD. Both cost 80,500 euros, or roughly 2,012,000 CZK. As standard, you get, for example, a giant display in front of the driver with a diagonal of 33 inches, an audio system with 19 speakers, heating of the front and rear seats, ventilated front seats with massage, three-zone air conditioning, a panoramic parking system, a lot of assistants and other elements.

Just for comparison: the Škoda Enyaq 85x Laurin & Klement with 210 kW and 77 kWh costs CZK 1,644,900 in the Czech Republic (the Coupe is 60 thousand more expensive), while it is smaller (4653 mm) and lacks a purely premium “feeling”.
