The Chinese Skoda Superb will be available in Europe. The price is ridiculous

The global political and economic situation creates problems and difficulties for some, and gaps in the market that they want to fill for others. For example, Chinese car companies. The Russian market has changed thanks to the restrictions, European and global companies have withdrawn or are withdrawing from here. Chinese production is looking for opportunities to expand, and Europe, even the Russian part, seems like a suitable location. Until recently, it seemed that the Chinese would try to penetrate the European regions rather only through electric cars, or rather electric SUVs.

China loves sedans. And money, preferably European money

But it turns out that the expansion could also concern more classic cars. With traditional bodywork and internal combustion engines. The Chinese manufacturer Chery has announced that it will sell a competitor to the Škoda Octavia model in Europe. It is a well-established model on the domestic market, with seven times the sales of the Skoda classic. According to reports directly from the automaker, Chery should come to Europe with both the smaller Arrizo 5 sedan and a direct rival for the Škoda Superb.

However, it, under the name Arrizo 8, has not yet been officially launched even in China. It is supposed to be a car with a length of 4,780 mm, a width of 1,843 and a height of 1,489 mm. The car spans over a wheelbase of 2,790 mm and its size goes directly against the Superb, even though the Škoda is a liftback, while the Arrizo 8 is a classic sedan. In fact, it somewhat resembles the Toyota Camry, another competitor in the class.

It is not an electric car, as already said, there will be three combustion power units under the hood. First, a gasoline turbocharged unit with a power of 197 hp and a torque of 290 Nm. And then a smaller engine with a volume of 1.5 liters and a power of 156 horsepower. The most powerful variant should be a two-liter with 254 horsepower. A seven-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are to be standard for the car.

In the cabin you can see two displays with a diagonal of 12.3 inches, wooden decors and leather upholstery. The focus is on a car intended for a more demanding clientele. Sales are scheduled to begin in the Chinese market in the third quarter of this year and whether it will reach European markets, and if so, which ones, is the question. The price should be 499,000 CZK in conversion. The cheapest version of the Škoda Superb on our market currently costs CZK 845,900.
