A revolution in maintenance: The brothers from Chomutov clean buildings in a modern way, with the help of drones

--

How does it all work? The drones are connected by a hose to a ground pump that sucks in clean water or water with a specially prepared cleaning agent. Basically, it is a high-pressure cleaning. The drone is remotely controlled from the ground by a pilot assisted by another colleague. He handles the hose when the machine lands, he also controls the pump.

The brothers started a business based on an interesting building washing technique at the beginning of this year. The bitter experience of an acquaintance brought them to the idea. “He got a quote for cleaning the roof with spray paint and the price was absolutely insane. That gave us a kick,” explained Marek. The younger Matěj found some foreign videos of cleaning buildings with a drone and suggested that they could try it. “It was a risk, but I believed in it, so we threw ourselves into it,” he noted.

They bought a drone, passed the pilot tests necessary to operate it, and got to work. She rushes to them. Business complexes, companies, owners of family houses and associations of owners who want to have the blocks of flats like new are interested. That’s why the brothers have already invested in three drones. The largest one has a span of three meters and can withstand a lot of water pressure, which is why they put it on the biggest buildings. “When this huge monster came to us, I didn’t even want to take off with it,” Matěj revealed with a laugh.

Who are DronBros?

Matej (24 years old)
He graduated from the secondary technical school in Chomutov, majoring in automation. He works as an IT specialist. He enjoys coding and the work of a developer, but at the same time, he likes to take a break from the computer thanks to the cleaning of buildings with drones.

Marek (31 years old)
He graduated from the Faculty of Socio-Economics of JE Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. He works in a production company in Chomutov. He enjoys sports: fitness, soccer, hockey.

They trained in the fields and later tested the technique in shop windows. They also had to figure out how to properly dilute the cleaning agent mixture so that it was as effective as possible and didn’t leave dried drops on the glass panes.

After only three months of operation, DronBros is receiving orders from all over the Czech Republic. In the near future, for example, they are expected to clean six block of flats in Ostrava and others in Prague, or shopping centers in Moravia. The biggest challenge for their work is the weather. Mainly the wind and temperatures close to zero, because of which it is sometimes necessary to postpone the work. Bureaucracy is another burden, as every action must be reported to the Civil Aviation Authority.

Award-winning butcher from Chomutov: We sell what we like

Compared to common methods of cleaning high-rise buildings, which in Czech conditions are mainly carried out by companies specializing in rope techniques, or with the use of platforms and scaffolding, the advantages of using a drone are indisputable. It works without contact, easily reaches hard-to-reach places and eliminates the risk of injury when working at height.

“In addition, we are at least 50 percent cheaper than climbers,” remarked Marek. Of course, the price is affected by a number of factors such as the size and fragmentation of the area, the level of pollution and the difficulty from the pilot’s point of view.

Entrepreneurs see drones as the future in building cleaning, so they are planning further growth. During this year, they would like to expand their fleet to fifteen machines. Along with that, they also need to expand the team to twenty pilots, they are already assisted by two part-timers with pilot’s licenses.

The DronBros showcase their work on social media, cultivating a community of people who love drones, however they use them. For work and fun.
