On May 9 at 9:19 a.m., i.e. symbolically to the minute exactly fifty years since the start of operation of the Prague metro, one of these historic trains will pass the first section of the Prague underground from Kačerov to Florenc, then Sokolovská.

People can ride other historical sets a day earlier. “For the national holiday on May 8, we are planning to operate four historic trains on route C for the normal fare from 9:19 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,” explains the director of the Transport Company hl. City of Prague Petr Witowski.
Geolocation game and exhibition
Those interested will also be able to play a special geolocation game in the metro in the coming months.

“I download the app, install the game, and then I actually go around all the stations of the Prague metro, all 61 of them. Information is waiting for me there, I learn about the station, how deep it is, why it is named that way, and so on. And I have a question waiting for me. If I answer correctly fifteen times, I will receive a unique graduate business card plus a small gift,” explains Petr Malík, head of the Museum of Public Transport in Střešovice.
It is there that the public can also visit the exhibition on the history of the Prague metro, which is traveling and will be seen in a number of places in the coming months, the next stop being the Open Door Day at the Kačerov Depot on May 4.
“The exhibition, which has twenty panels, maps the development from the first design to the future of the Prague metro, which should be automation,” adds Petr Malík.
