On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, a new entertainment TV channel named Warner TV will launch on the Czech television market. It is Warner Bros.’ first free-to-air television program. Discovery.
After Italy, the Czech Republic is only the second country where the free Warner TV channel will be available. The Warner TV station and its themed programs are also broadcast in other markets, however, they are provided as pay programs elsewhere.

The new station wants to reach a wide audience of viewers who are only interested in free-to-air programs. Warner TV will be a television station and a way to reach more viewers. Until now, WBD has focused exclusively on providing paid content, both TV programs through TV operators and its own HBO Max streaming service, which will be introduced at the end of May 2024 under the new MAX brand with an expanded content offer.
The first mentions of the launch of Warner TV appeared at the beginning of this year, when the operator applied for the granting of three types of broadcasting licenses for terrestrial, satellite and Internet broadcasting (special transmission systems).
Warner TV over the air
Broadcasting company WBD has reached an agreement with the operator of the all-area DVB-T2 network 23 (multiplex 23), operated by Czech Digital Group and owned by Czech Radiocommunications. The station occupied the free slot “Test-4” last week. The program is thus available on a classic terrestrial antenna for all TV households that can receive stations such as Nova Cinema or Televizi Seznam. These mentioned stations are in the same broadcasting platform (multiplex).
Warner TV on satellite
The Czech version of Warner TV used satellite as the first distribution medium. The station is broadcast via the Eutelsat 9B satellite in high definition (HDTV). Broadcasting in the DVB-S2 multiplex is encrypted by the Viaccess system and is intended exclusively for television operators.
For DTH (satellite viewers), the program is currently not part of any TV operator. WBD has not yet agreed with them on the commercial terms of including the station in the offer.
Warner TV on the Internet (special transmission systems) – IPTV, OTT
Warner TV’s new programming will gradually appear on many OTT and IPTV providers on launch day. However, even in this case, WBD has not yet reached an agreement with all television service providers to include the program.

According to the operator of the program, the Warner TV station will appear in the offers of operators T-Mobile, Vodafone TV, DWP, Lepší.TV, Antik TV, FixPro, Elsat, PODA, SledovaniTV, Grape, Sweet TV and many other operators. Shortly before the start of the broadcast, the Telly operator also confirmed the inclusion in the offer.
If you cannot find the program in your operator’s channel list, it is advisable to restart the box (receiver device) to load the latest data from the operator’s servers.
What will Warner TV offer viewers?
Warner TV is a new all-in-one entertainment channel for the whole family. It will bring series and films of various genres to viewers – from romantic to dramatic, thrillers to horror. The viewer will also find documentaries and reality shows in the program.
