The streaming platform Amazon Prime is celebrating great success after a long time. Her sci-fi series Fallout is breaking viewership records. The station, like its competitors, has understood that series based on famous video games have been gaining popularity among viewers recently.

Bethesda’s Fallout was first released 27 years ago and took players to the post-apocalyptic future of 2157, when part of humanity lives in huge underground bunkers, English vaults, after a nuclear war.

Today, the cult video game series has a total of nine main sequels. However, the creators of the series deliberately did not choose any known specific line and invented completely new characters and the plot – thanks to this, it is a success even among viewers who have not known the game until now.
As with video games, the filmmakers are betting on a distinct “retro atomic” stylization and black humor, which partly dilutes the bleakness of the radioactively burned Earth.
One of the main characters is the naive Lucy, played by Ella Purnell. Until her wedding, Lucy lived in the safety of Vault 33. But she has to leave her home in order to save her father, and she is in for a hard clash with reality.

This is mainly represented by the character of the radiation-stricken noseless gunslinger and bounty hunter Ghoul, played by the charming Walton Goggins.
Behind the series adaptation, for which Amazon has already confirmed a second series, is the creative married couple Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who already tried the mix of science fiction and the wild west in the successful HBO series Westworld with Anthony Hopkins in the lead role.
In addition, the couple invited Bethesda developer Todd Howard to collaborate on the Fallout series. He can rub fingers with his colleagues, because the success of the series has a significant impact on the games. For example, sales of 2015’s Fallout 4 were up 7,500 percent from the previous week.
Similar success was achieved last year by the series The Last of Us produced by HBO, and the upcoming film Borderlands, based on the video game of the same name, is also betting on a fantasy world cut from a western, with Oscar winner Cate Blanchett playing the main role of a bounty hunter.
