British King Charles III. returned to his public duties for the first time since his February cancer diagnosis. He visited a medical facility in London that specializes in the treatment of this disease. Reuters reports that the 75-year-old monarch, who was accompanied by Queen Camilla, was smiling and looking healthy.

Charles III suffers from an unspecified form of cancer and is undergoing treatment that has limited him to duties that do not involve public appearances since February. But at the end of March, for example, he attended the Easter service.

Buckingham Palace announced last week on Friday that the King will return to his public duties. But for now, the king will have a limited public program to minimize any health risks, according to Reuters. For example, in June, he should take part in commemorative events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings and host the Japanese imperial couple on a state visit.

The BBC News server also wrote last week that the king’s announcement does not mean his full return to public speaking, but rather a “positive signal”. “It is a message of cautious optimism, but the king’s treatment, which began in February, is still ongoing and no date for its completion has yet been announced,” he said.

Another member of the highest circles of the British royal family – Princess Kate, the wife of the heir to the throne Prince William – is also being treated for cancer. After weeks of speculation, Kate revealed in March that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy following abdominal surgery in January.
