The Brazilian concert closes the Celebration tour, which the queen of pop started last year. Authorities in Rio said thousands of police officers would be deployed around the concert venue to control crowds, similar to the city’s famous New Year’s celebrations.

In temperatures of around 28 degrees Celsius, firefighters sprinkled water on the fans gathered near the stage. Drinking water was also distributed free of charge.
Shortly before 11:00 p.m. (4:00 a.m. CST), the queen of pop, dressed all in black, took the stage and fired up the crowd with a rendition of Nothing Really Matters, according to AFP.
The audience packed the sandy beach, but many fans watched the show from dozens of boats out at sea, where they secured an unobstructed view.
In the past, The Rolling Stones or Rod Stewart had concerts on the iconic beach. They too attracted more than a million people.
