Richard Burke, an ophthalmologist and later Monica’s partner, was placed on the potato rung. Despite how much Monica and Richard loved each other, in the end they each wanted different futures. Richard was almost 25 years older than Monica, had grown children and didn’t want another, unlike Monica who wanted a family.
3rd place
Mike Hannigan earned bronze. Phoebe had many suitors throughout the series, but Mike was her first long-term relationship. It was obvious from the beginning that they really understood each other. Phoebe envisioned her future with Mike, which led to a brief separation as Mike did not want to remarry. But they got back together and eventually got married.
