Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery are competitors in the entertainment industry, but this time they’re joining forces. And also your streaming services. Already in the summer, they want to offer a package in which viewers will get Disney+, Hulu and Max together. An account on only one of the platforms should be sufficient to subscribe to the unified triple service. For now, the novelty is presented only in the United States.

Is the first big step in the consolidation of the streaming market coming? A few years ago, people were excited to subscribe to a single Netflix and easily watch their favorite movies and series online. Today, they are often fed up with the plethora of streaming services with fragmented content and increasing subscription prices. Which many times leads to a major reassessment by users. Now comes the natural – and first big – reaction from operators.

Warner Bros. Starting this summer, Discovery and Disney will add a new type of subscription to their Max, Hulu and Disney+ streaming services in the United States that will offer access to all three platforms. There should be a standard version of the package as well as a cheaper version with ads. Sub-service accounts and applications will remain separate within the bundle.

Linking is not entirely new. American users who pay for both Hulu and Disney+ (both owned by Disney) already have access to content from the former service on Disney+. “Through our new partnership, subscribers will gain access to blockbuster movies, original work and three extensive libraries of content from the best brands,” said Joe Earley of Disney Entertainment.

Brands included in the connection include stations or studios ABC, CNN, DC, Discovery, Disney, Food Network, FX, HBO, HGTV, Hulu, Marvel, Pixar, Searchlight, Warner Bros and others. “The new offer will help increase the number of subscribers and retain them. The advantageous combination of services represents an impressive blueprint for the future of the entertainment industry.” commented on the alliance Jean-Briac Perrette responsible for streaming services at Warner Bros. Discovery.

If they prove themselves overseas, for now only American plans could be reflected in the Czech Republic. Similar to other initiatives in the past. For example, Netflix’s fight against password sharing has also spread on the Czech market, and the transformation of the HBO Max streaming service to Max only will arrive in the Czech Republic on May 21. In addition, the topic of many prepaid services was recently discussed by Ondřej Holzman and Luboš Kreč in the CzechCrunche podcast Money Maker.
