Sigma has an offer from the Americans, the investor indicated an interest only in a minority share

The 57-year-old veteran sports manager Luhnow, who in 2017 led the Houston Astros to victory in the best baseball competition in the MLB world, was very cautious in answering questions about Sigma in the interview, although his intentions can be read from them.

“Blue Crow’s priority is now MFK Vyškov. We have been working on this project and club for years and our goal is to grow it and get it going in the right direction. At the same time, however, I must say that we really like the Czech market as such and we do not know whether Vyškov will be in the first or second league, where it will play at all. And so we conducted negotiations with several clubs in the Czech Republic about various forms of cooperation or joining the club structure. But one thing should be clear. Blue Crow is very interested in playing some role in the Czech football market, having a club here,” said the manager.

Second-league Vyškov, which is owned by the Blue Crow company, however, has promotion ambitions, and the rules do not allow holding a majority stake in several first-league clubs at the same time. “Obviously, we cannot have a majority stake in two teams and we are not interested in that. In any case, further negotiations will not lead to any damage to the Vyškov project. This is our highest priority,” said the representative of the co-owner of Leganés in Spain and Cancún in Mexico.

In its statements to date, Sigma has never specifically specified even the basic outlines of Blue Crow’s interest, however, in an interview for iDNES Premium in March, the chairman of the club’s board of directors, Petr Konečný, stated an interest in a majority stake.

“Ideally so that he would have a two-thirds or more share, which would give him a decisive say in practically everything in the club,” he enticed the fans. Many assumed that football in Olomouc would soon acquire a similarly strong owner, such as recently Slovan Liberec in the person of businessman Ondřej Kania.

There is now speculation about Sigma’s offer in the amount of around fifty million crowns. Sigma Olomouc does not want to comment on this information, it has only confirmed on its club website that it has received a certain proposal.

“SK Olomouc Sigma MŽ, zs announces that it has received an offer from the Blue Crow Sports Group company to become a shareholder in the company SK Sigma Olomouc as. The club will not disclose detailed information about the offer at this time. Further information will be provided in accordance with the development of the situation,” said Jakub Beneš, chairman of the association’s committee that owns the majority share.

From Blue Crow’s point of view, joining the Olomouc club can also be a smart move to secure the future of Vyškov, which is currently dealing with the lack of facilities in case of promotion to the domestic elite in the first league. The pitch of the Androva stadium is now fully utilized by Sigma’s main team together with its reserve, which operates in the second highest competition, so Vyškov cannot even discuss a possible asylum in Olomouc. This could change with the entry of an investor into Sigma. Sigma B could then play its matches, for example, at the 1. HFK Olomouc stadium in Holice, and thus free up Andrová stadium instead of Vyškov.

“We will have to make some compromises in where we play. With Vyškov, we don’t have the certainty of the first league, we don’t know what will happen if we stay in the second league… In short, we are exploring all our options in this market, but we want to primarily take care of Vyškov,” said Jeff Luhnow.
