Investigators from the General Inspection of Security Forces (GIBS) initiated criminal prosecution for disorderly conduct and grievous bodily harm against a policeman and his girlfriend, also a policewoman, who drunkenly assaulted several girls in Prague’s Smíchov in mid-February.
“On April 24, 2024, the criminal prosecution of two natural persons (members of the security forces) was initiated for conduct that was qualified as the offense of disorderly conduct, partly committed independently, partly in complicity. In the case of one of the accused persons as well as a crime of grievous bodily harm,” the spokesman of the Municipal Prosecutor’s Office in Prague, Aleš Cimbala, told Deník.
According to him, since the preliminary criminal proceedings are still ongoing in the case, it is not possible to provide more detailed information about the case.
According to the law, a police officer faces up to ten years in prison for grievous bodily harm. For disorderly conduct, committed by his girlfriend, a prison sentence of up to two years is established.

The conflict took place in front of the club in Nádražní street on the night of February 17 after the police ball. Here, a heavily drunk policeman brutally attacked a nineteen-year-old girl. He knelt on her and even dragged her along the street by her hair, his partner, also a policewoman, helped the policeman in the crime. In addition, the persons in question attacked more girls.
According to the Blesk.cz server, the policeman who was called had to measure 2.6 per mille of alcohol and his girlfriend 1.6 per mille. The attacked girl had to be treated by the emergency services and ended up in the hospital.
The Novinky.cz server also reported that a police officer kicked a girl down the stairs and she suffered a broken leg and had to undergo surgery. “It was about a lady who was kicked by the policeman in question from the spiraling metal stairs that are in that bar, and then she ended up in the hospital. She was supposed to have an injury to the lower leg joint and perhaps a fractured ankle or tibia associated with it,” one of the witnesses to the event told Novinka.

At the beginning of April, the police officer was released from duty. “The exoneration proceedings that the superior conducted with the person in question have ended and the policeman has been exonerated,” the police said. His girlfriend, who also took part in the assault, however, remained on duty.
Police spokesman Jan Daněk added that the policeman in question had already been subject to disciplinary proceedings in the past for misdemeanor conduct. But this was not of such intensity that the man was relieved of duty or even dismissed. At that time, the police officer was only punished disciplinaryly. The police did not specify what it was specifically about.
