Fantish and the fight for salvation: Terrible wounds to the heart. I might have a heart attack by the time I’m 50

“I care a lot about it. If it doesn’t go well, I’ll blame myself for it for the rest of my life,” says one of the captains and most experienced fighters in the FC Zlín team.

The Příbram schoolboy and native is experiencing the current situation a lot, he certainly has no intention of falling into the second league.

“Maybe I was in a worse situation, but maybe I’ll have a heart attack before I’m fifty. These are terrible blows to the heart. It’s awfully hard,” he sighed.

Even though Zlín fell to the bottom after the first round of superstructures, Fantiš does not panic, he remains an optimist, he believes.

“What will happen will happen. But I know that it is enough for us to drop something there and it will turn around,” he believes.

For example, a year ago in Pardubice, it was Fantiš’s header after a mistake by the Romanian goalkeeper Nita that saved the cobblers. Now a similar moment has not yet come. “It probably couldn’t even be given and it fell there. We need something like that even now. Hopefully it will come and help us,” he wishes.

Cobblers, however, have to go against luck as well. Just defending well and waiting for the opponent’s mistakes may not be enough on the way to a save.

To succeed, they must be bolder, more aggressive, far more dangerous. In the last duels, they came up empty-handed, they showed very little offensively.

“I told the boys during the week that the decision will be made mainly by the head. I know he can play football, but it’s hard for anyone who hasn’t experienced it to understand how intense it is. Even Pardubice messed up a lot in the first half,” noted Fantiš.

But the home team helped themselves to a standard situation after the change of sides, with a goal from Icha and the duel, thanks to an insurance hit from substitute Krobot, led to an important win.

“It has happened to us several times. We came from the dressing room and we will get a goal right away. I don’t know what it is. If I had known, I would have changed it. It’s about detail, position, responsibility. The opponent then started defending the result and we missed a piece,” he lamented.

The Moravians came out empty-handed in both shooting and points in the CFIG Arena.

“The first half was nervous for both sides. We tried to be honest, especially towards the back. We waited for the opponent’s mistakes, which we would punish. However, we are unable to complete it. We certainly could have threatened more,” he says.

The cobblers will try to fight back for salvation in a week in Karviná. He must not hesitate in Silesia, it will be a fight again.

“Every match is crucial for us,” he knows well. “We make it difficult for ourselves. In addition, the other results are not recorded for us either. But it’s the same as in life. No one will help us, we only have to do it ourselves,” he adds.

However, even in a difficult situation, the people of Zlín can rely on loyal supporters. Almost three hundred of them went to Pardubice by train. The guests relentlessly chased the win, they supported them throughout the match.

“I’m happy for the fans. I still have last year in my head, when we managed it mainly thanks to them,” he remembers.

“We were already under water and breathing through a straw, but we got up and got to the top. Now it feels like deja vu, I’m reliving it. I just hope that it will have a happy ending again, to which people will help us,” he concludes.
