The park near the hospital in Klatovy is not just a place to relax and play. For Rastislav Čonka (44), a Slovak staying in the city under the Black Tower, it was a place where he traded drugs.

At the Klato court, the foreigner now begged in vain to receive any punishment, only if he could stay in our republic, where he has a love nest. But he was unlucky. He was exiled.

“He procured the drug meth in a so far undetected manner, which he subsequently handed over to other persons in Klatovy, most often in the park under the Klato hospital, near his residence at the time, repeatedly for financial gain or for free out of friendship,” state attorney Marcela Šímová said in the indictment. . She added that the man “dealt” on the spot for almost the entire year 2023. According to the indictment, four men and two women took the well-known Czech drug from him. Some repeatedly. The price was usually 500 crowns for 0.2 grams.

Čonok did not deny it in court. “Everything in the indictment is true. I regret it terribly. I realized that I had made a big mistake. It is true that I used meth, but an acquaintance from Prague recommended it to me for my sick pancreas. But I’m done with drugs,” the defendant claimed to the court, who begged to receive any punishment, as long as he was not deported. It was precisely this penalty that was imposed on him by a criminal order, against which he filed an objection, and that is how the main trial took place. “I have a love nest here. I have been in the Czech Republic for about seven years, my wife and I work there. I am a self-employed person, I work as a mason,” Čonka described. During the short evidence, however, it became clear that it will not be so hot even with his relationship with the Czech Republic, since all his background is in Slovakia and he does not have a long-term permanent residence here, nor with his work here, because despite the claim that he earns 30 to 35 thousand, he pays no taxes in the Czech Republic and no one knows his real income. And even with quitting meth, it’s not entirely clear-cut.

The public prosecutor therefore insisted on expulsion in her proposal, and judge Jan Kasal agreed. Čonka, who faced up to five years in prison, was expelled for four years. In his reasoning, he stated that he believed that this was the optimal punishment. He recalled, on the one hand, the social danger of the actions of the defendant, who had been dealing in drugs for a long time for profit, on the other hand, his previous integrity and declaration of guilt. Thanks to them, no additional penalty was imposed for expulsion, be it monetary or conditional. The verdict is not final, Čonka appealed against it on the spot.
