Thirteen human lives have already been lost on the roads in the Pilsen region during the first quarter of this year. The most common cause was improper driving, specifically not paying attention to driving, often combined with excessive speed. In response, the police implemented other traffic safety actions, focusing primarily on compliance with speed limits. And they also stepped on TAXI vehicles.

Police officers in the region checked a total of 248 vehicles and found 101 violations. “Most often, drivers did not follow the set speed limit. In 30 cases, 17 drivers violated the speed limit in the municipality and 13 outside the municipality. The second most frequently detected violation (26 drivers) was using the phone while driving. “Twelve drivers did not wear their seat belts and the same number of drivers drove onto our road with a vehicle that was in poor technical condition.” the police spokeswoman informed Eva Cervenkova.

On the same day, in the night hours, the traffic police from Pilsen carried out another control action, during which they focused on compliance with the conditions of operating a taxi service. Together with the police, workers from the transport department of the City of Pilsen went to the inspection and immediately took over the detected violation on the spot. The police officers checked the obligations of legal entities or physically entrepreneurial persons operating road transport, the obligations of taxi drivers, the proper marking of taxi vehicles and also the equipment of taxi vehicles with prescribed requirements.

“To check, the police officers stopped a total of 22 taxi service vehicles and found 14 violations in the area of operating a taxi service.” In nine cases, they referred the carrier’s violation to an administrative body for consideration, and in five cases, they resolved the violation with an on-the-spot order for a violation in the area of operating a taxi service. Some drivers carried out their activities without a properly verified taximeter, and in other cases the taxi drivers did not have a document of business authorization, did not have a properly completed transport record or had a taxi driver’s license incorrectly placed.” the police spokesperson added to the results of the second control event.
