Bezba doprava, or the service of special minibuses for the transport of severely disabled people, will be expanded by 4 additional vehicles as of May 1, 2024. Another 4 minibuses will be added from August 1, 2024. A total of 43 specially modified vehicles will be available. As of May 1, 2024, the conditions for accompanying persons will also be simplified and the transport price list will be made clearer.

Bezba doprava has been operating in its current form since 2022. The dispatch center established by the ROPID organization takes care of the efficient use of 35 specially adapted vehicles, which accepts individual orders and coordinates the operation of the vehicles provided by the companies Lutan and Vega Tour. Due to the growing interest in this service, the expansion of the number of vehicles from 35 to 43 was already approved last year with the originally planned date of August 1, 2024. Thanks to the agreement with the carrier Vega Tour, we managed to secure 4 new minibuses from May 1, 2024, so we will be able to to cover much more shipping requirements as early as 3 months earlier.

“Bezba doprava is a proven and popular service, which we plan to continue to develop and increase its quality. Currently, it was possible to serve up to 350 passengers every day through it, but the demand from citizens was higher. Thanks to the purchase of eight new minibuses, we can meet this demand and increase the number of trips from May and subsequently from August.”
says Zdeněk Hřib, deputy mayor of Prague and councilor for transport.

From 1 May 2024, the price list for basic transport will also be clarified. Newly, the total amount will not be divided into the starting rate and the cost of transportation itself, which was confusing. The total price remains the same – 50 CZK for an adult and 30 CZK for a child from 6 to 15 years old in the territory of Prague, and for trips to the Central Bohemia region, 70 CZK for an adult and 40 CZK for a child. Children under 6 continue to travel for free.

Newly, however, based on the impulse from the Prague organization of wheelchair users, the price for the transport of accompanying persons with a ZTP/P card, who until now paid the full fare, will be significantly reduced and will now pay only CZK 10. If the current capacity of the vehicle allows it, more accompanying persons will also be permitted. The second and every other member of the escort will pay 100 crowns for a ride only in Prague or 150 crowns for a ride extending into the Central Bohemia region. “Until now, one client was only allowed to take a maximum of one companion with him in the Bezba travolik vehicle, even if the vehicle was not fully used. We therefore cater to clients and, for example, when a wheelchair user is traveling with his family to the airport or to cultural events, everyone can now travel with Bezba transport, if the dispatcher approves it in advance. “ adds ROPID director Petr Tomčík.

What is Bezba dorva?

Bezba doprava is a service designed for people with a severe health handicap – ZTP or ZTP/P card holders with permanent residence in Prague or the Central Bohemian Region. Although public transport is largely barrier-free, it is not always usable for many people with reduced mobility and orientation for various reasons. Therefore, the capital city of Prague is establishing Bezba transport, thanks to which registered clients can comfortably get not only to the doctor, but also to work, special schools, stationary, rehabilitation services and to culture. It is best to order safe transport in advance, the service operates non-stop, so it runs even in the evening and on weekends. You can order by calling 234 704 572 or via the e-mail address [email protected]. Further necessary information, including details of current changes, can be found on the website www.bezba.cz.
