In two years, he took a total of ten basses. But he denies the murder and the cutting off of the head and genitals

He came to the trial masked with a respirator, during which he showed a whole range of emotions. He clenched his fists, made grimaces, kept polishing the counter in the box for defendants and witnesses with his sleeve. But when the question was asked whether he agreed to a two-year conditional sentence, Tomáš Huleš’s (42) face lit up for the first and last time.

“I won’t appeal, it would be a waste of money,” laughed the veteran recidivist. It is not surprising that they do not panic about such a verdict. He knows it well in prison and, above all, the risk of a much longer criminal life hangs over him. It is he who, according to the police, is responsible for the murder of a foreigner found in a river in Pilsen. The corpse was missing its head and genitalia and had other mutilations all over its body. However, Huleš denies that he committed the crime.

Huleš, who has a permanent residence in the north of Pilsen, has almost two dozen court sentences to his credit. He was released from the last one so far in July 2022. Although it was conditionally, he certainly did not cut the goodness. According to the indictment, in the following months he committed or at least attempted to commit several thefts, mostly involving metals or cables, at the expense of Czech Railways. But he also stole a few liters of diesel fuel from the tank. In addition, he was twice caught by a police patrol driving a car in Jateční street in Pilsen, even though he was forbidden to do so by the court. “I committed those acts because I was hungry. I was taking a friend who needed it in the car,” Huleš explained to the court, but otherwise he did not deny it and pleaded guilty.

Crime in the region has fallen. But murders and sexual offenses have increased

Prosecutor Michal Klíma proposed a two-year conditional sentence for him, and Judge Blanka Šišová agreed with it. She sent Huleš to a prison with security for 24 months. He must also pay for the damage caused, which amounts to less than 27 thousand crowns, and the state confiscated the scissors used in criminal activity. In the justification, Šišová reminded that on the one hand it is easier for the defendant that he declared his guilt, but on the other hand it is aggravated by the fact that he committed the acts while on probation and also his extensive criminal record. “Other than unconditional punishment was out of the question,” Šišová explained. The verdict is final, everyone has waived the right to appeal. Hules laughed at the possibility and said it would be a waste of money.

He denies murder

Two years of a criminal sentence is a banality compared to what Huleš is facing for murder, for which the police accused him two months ago. It was a murder that caused a wave of emotions not only in Pilsen, but in the entire republic. The body found on January 12, 2023 in Berun under the footbridge near St. According to Deník’s source, Jiří in the Pecihrádek area had not only his head cut off, but also his genitals and a number of other injuries and mutilations all over his body caused by a cutting tool, apparently a knife. Some body parts could not be found. The dead man had documents with him, so the detective immediately knew that it was a thirty-two-year-old Slovak who was moving in the homeless communitywhere he was known under the nickname Čobol.

The search for his killer lasted more than a year, until at the beginning of March of this year, the police announced that they had caught the perpetrator. “After more than a year of intensive work by police officers from a specially established investigative team, we managed to clarify this case of murder. On Thursday, February 29, 2024, detectives in Pilsen detained a suspected forty-two-year-old man, who was subsequently accused by the chief commissioner of committing the particularly serious crime of murder,” police spokeswoman Pavla Burešová said at the time, adding that the person in question was taken into custody. The police refused to provide any further information about the crime.

The homeless man was missing his head and genitalia. The suspect in his murder is in custody

But Huleš denies the murder the whole time. This was confirmed to the newspaper by the judge who took him into custody, as well as other sources. Even now in court, when asked directly, he claimed that he was not accused of murder, but only a suspect.
