It is conceived in a completely different way, it was not the case. The difference is, know the people at the entrance. The reception desk moved closer to the entrance. I don’t have to go through a long aisle to the checkout. The expositions are modern in concept, complemented by multimedia presentations, said Ji Orna, editor of the Western Museum in Pilsen.

The first nvtvnice circuit is a new one between the years 1830 and 1900. It shows the life of an individual from a rural environment from birth to study, productive age and to age and death, which overtook him in the urban environment of Pilsen. Newcomers will familiarize themselves with the details of the long-distance bicycle system, the daily routine and the complexities of choosing permits and individual housing options. There is no shortage of examples of historical trade or business.

The type of inner circuit is then closed to the outside and chosen by the population in the city of Pilsen and in the rural areas of the Pilsen countryside. For example, novices learn how to descend from various crafts. People will be able to view the exhibits independently without a guide.

A complete collection of the Moscow branch

For us, the trick is that for the first time in fifty years, we were able to comprehensively present a collection of men’s clothing. This was not possible until then, says the head of the ethnographic museum, Michal Chmelensk. One of the rarities is the posthumous decoration of the late Renaissance tickle of Bohunka Lobkovick from Turnberka. Find the route from the Turnbersk chapel of St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral in Pilsen.

The items were once saved by Ladislav Lbek, the founder of the Ethnographic Museum of Pilsen. We are currently preparing the Experimental Ethnology Center of the Western Museum in Pilsen. This is a space that we would like to make available to the public as soon as possible. Visitors will be able to experience everything they see in the museum for themselves. I’ll see you here from the cloko, so people will be able to make something out of this material. It is something that should complement the permanent exhibition, it is not possible to place interactive elements in it, added Khmelinsk.

Regionally, the expositions are defined by the boundaries of the former Pilsen estate, i.e. the city of Pilsen and the irho of Pilsen. This is Stbrsko, Chotovsko, Plassko. However, 90 percent of the collections are collected in Pilsen and the surrounding area, he adds.

Construction work began in 2021 and ended last year in June. Then came the installation of the exhibits. Currently running to complete work. When we found out in 2020 that we would receive a subsidy, we knew that nothing easy would be expected of us at least until the end of 2023. I’m glad it worked out, added Orn.

The building renovation involved two cultural monuments, the Renaissance Chotovska house and the Gerlach house, rebuilt by Baroque architect Jakub Auguston. The total cost of reconstruction and construction of new exhibitions reached 129 million crowns. Of that, 98 million was covered by subsidies from the European Fund for Regional Development. The rest came from the pensions of the Plzeň Region and the Ministry of Local Development.
