Tesco alerted its customers to the change in opening hours at the stores in Eden and Letňany with signs before entering the store, as evidenced by photos that some people shared on the X social network.
As of Wednesday, May 1, stores are now open 24 hours a day from 6 a.m. to midnight.
“We decided to adjust the sales hours in the Prague stores in Eden and Letňany based on feedback from our customers,” Novinek spokeswoman Iva Pavlousková answered.
Both stores were the last Tesco to operate continuously.
“We deal with each store individually so that we can always offer customers the best possible shopping experience,” added the spokeswoman.
The retail chain began to gradually slow down its non-stop operation more than ten years ago. In 2015, he did so at two dozen stores across the whole of the Czech Republic, and in recent years, customers have been able to shop at night only in Prague.
The British chain Tesco has been operating on the Czech retail market since 1996, where it currently operates 184 branches. In addition, it also owns the Žabka sales network.
