Dycky Bridge! But without the Penny Market. That one turned out badly

Dycky Bridge! This message from the legendary series about life in the North Bohemian city obviously does not apply to the Penny Market chain, which, according to the Czech Agricultural and Food Inspectorate, was forced to close its Mostec establishment in Višňová street. The reason why it turned out badly was inadequate conditions, contaminated food or the presence of rodent droppings. How long the Bridge will be without the Penny Market is not clear from the inspection information.

Description: Penny market

First, a few basic concepts.

The State Agricultural and Food Inspection (SZPI) is an organizational component of the state that is directly subordinate to the Ministry of Agriculture. It is a state supervisory body that especially monitors the safety, quality and proper labeling of food.

The SZPI inspects, within the scope of its competences, agricultural products, food or tobacco products, as well as objects and materials that come into contact with food, according to its website.

SZPI uses the website as one of the tools for fulfilling its mission www.potravinynapranýři.cz.

The latter mainly divides its control activities into food quality control, control of establishments where food is sold, and control of websites that offer food.

And it was during the inspection of one of the establishments in the Ústí Region that the ČZPI employees came across serious violations of hygiene standards, damaged food packaging or even rodent droppings among the stored food.

Specifically, we are talking about the Penny Market Most establishment in Višňová Street.

According to the inspectors, serious facts were found there, such as the presence of rodent excrement, food damaged or contaminated by pests, traces of the presence and presence of rodents and other dirt on the floor or directly in the shelves.

The verdict of the ČZPI was therefore clear and the establishment was closed on 30/04/2024, and everything indicates that it was the same yesterday, as the mention of reopening, which is usually part of the inspection findings, is missing.

As an example, we can take the establishment of the competing chain Albert in Prague-Troj, where the warehouse was closed for similar reasons and where ČZPI also reports its reopening yesterday.

Let’s add that we will monitor the current situation and, in case of new, up-to-date information about the reopening, we will update the article.
