All you had to do was react and completely trust the ad that offered the job of your dreams. The applicant for a job from the comfort of her home strictly followed the instructions of the advertisers and via the application uploaded a motivation letter together with a CV into the system.

The response of the company, which presented itself as a serious mediator of job opportunities, was almost immediate. The recruiters, who the fraudsters pretended to be, gave the applicant great news accompanied by congratulations. Namely, that she succeeded and was selected as a suitable person for the advertised job position. “After that, the alleged recruiter was supposed to gradually coax personal data out of her under various pretexts,” said police spokeswoman Martina Jandová.

Subsequently, the trusting job applicant was not surprised. The swindlers, with all the necessary data and documents in hand, set up a bank account in the woman’s name, through which they immediately negotiated a loan of a quarter of a million. They took the money in cash and disappeared. The woman will have to pay a considerable amount. At least until the police manage to uncover the fraudsters.

“The police have initiated criminal proceedings on suspicion of fraud and credit fraud. The perpetrator faces a fine or a prison sentence of up to five years,” Jandová summarized. Fraudsters who make a decent living at the expense of trusting people through all kinds of pranks on the global Internet are increasing, and the police manage to detect only a fraction of them.
