Description: South Bohemian region

“With the launch of air traffic at the airport in Planá, another ability of the independent existence of the South Bohemian region was fulfilled, on whose territory there is now an essentially completely uncovered strategic network: the world brewery Budvar, dozens of famous monuments including UNESCO sites, the Temelín nuclear power plant, a growing highway, its own university with five faculties, a theater and a philharmonic, an extremely healthy environment and drinking water of infant quality, full plates, the least light pollution and therefore the biggest starry sky. Here you will find the densest network of pedestrian and bicycle paths or the unique ability of residents to cram a sausage into an uncut roll. Outside of our territory, you can recognize us by the ball on the car, and our drivers are so great that they are usually the first to drive in convoys. We have freshwater seas and the most extensive forests, deep caves and at the same time the highest observation towers and bridges. There is an absolutely top-notch network of hospital facilities, healthy milk and sharp pencils, modern trains, organic farming, shipping and a paradise for boaters and fishermen. We love and honor water, after all, we have five hundred ponds here from our great-great-great-grandfathers. Everyone knows South Bohemian Christmas and the healing effects of peat and air (Třeboňsko and Šumava, however, significantly higher values of e.g. relaxin, the so-called ‘calm hormone’, were measured throughout the region). Did you know that the first European cosmonaut was Jihočech and that our first league hockey and volleyball teams play near the deposits of precious stones? The overall conditions for life here are simply amazing, so much so that tourists often refuse to leave and stubbornly insist on staying here permanently”, says Petr Soukup, director of the South Bohemian Tourism Office.

“South Bohemians are more inclined to peasant rather than Brussels sense, however, the South Bohemian region maintains above-standard diplomatic relations with many states, not only with neighboring Upper and Lower Austria and the Free State of Bavaria. Of course, the visa requirement would not be introduced at all. We are not interested in what you arrive with in your passport, but in your heart”, concludes Petr Soukup.
