Disappointment and embarrassment. In the end, the Kunovic handball players lost to their rival. Who finishes?

In Bělineka, before this season, they were thinking about better results and the final position, the season brought more fluctuating performances and embarrassment. “I expected much more from some supports,” repeats Fleková.

“Perhaps only goalkeeper Žáková maintained the only standard, other girls alternated better matches with worse ones. They couldn’t maintain their performance and form,” regrets the coach from Kunov.

They had reservations not only about the performances, but also about the approach of the wards.

“I probably won’t understand some things as a former player,” she says sadly. “In my opinion, when something is being trained, it should somehow be reflected on the dashboard. But it doesn’t happen like that here. It seems to me that when the girls sleep, they play, which really kills me.

It seems to me that the training sessions are wasted,” he adds disappointedly.

The Kunovice handball players also paid for a narrow squad. The team was often supplemented by teenage girls who had had enough of the demanding program.

But the problem with the lack of female players is solved by most of the teams of the women’s first league.

“I’m sorry that the girls are planning their vacation for the season as well. At the same time, they know that there are not enough of us,” Fleková does not understand.

“On the other hand, I don’t want to wrong them. They approached their duties decently, they tried and far from everything was wrong,” the former representative knows well.

The Slovakian team had a certain seventh position before the final duel. He could not improve, nor could he fall behind his rival.

Spectators saw a busy handball game. It was played at a pace, with commitment, but with a number of inaccuracies, mistakes and losses.

Kunovice held the lead for most of the first half, leading by two goals at halftime. Jiskra turned the result around after the break, but the home girls took the lead back again.

The exciting encounter escalated in the final quarter of an hour. Otrokovice managed the end of the dramatic duel better, the opponents bounced back and scored the scalp of the regional rival.

“Fifty minutes were good, the end didn’t work for us,” Fleková lamented.

“The game broke in the last ten minutes. The girls probably couldn’t handle it mentally. I can’t deny their effort, they fought, they played to their full potential, but unfortunately we didn’t convert the chances and didn’t understand that the opponent only plays on the pivot and can’t do anything else, which is bad, but then again they didn’t stand out in the match like they did in Hostivice,” said Fleková.

The legendary handball player should remain with the team for the next season as well. But it is time for changes.

What is certain is that goalkeeper Žáková is retiring, Knotová, Popelková and Fiurášková probably won’t continue either for various reasons. “Some girls have told us that they are quitting, but maybe some of them will change their minds. Now they are free. They will rest and perhaps find that they miss handball and the team,” adds Fleková.
