The pillar of mutual cooperation is support, presentation and participation in the upcoming tour abroad. The Philharmonic is going to perform in Hungary, Croatia, Austria, Poland, Switzerland and the USA. “The Veolia Group is not just one of many international corporations, but a truly key stakeholder in its field. I firmly believe that this unique connection and potential will show that cooperation in the field of public non-profit services and the private sector can benefit both entities and the Olomouc public,” said the director of the Olomouc Moravian Philharmonic, Jonáš Harman. The opening of the process to acquire a strong and strategic partner was preceded by almost six months of negotiations. “Here it is appropriate to mention the thanks to Olomouc Mayor Miroslav Žbánek, who stood in its introduction,” announced director Jonáš Harman.

This year’s jubilee season, the leitmotif of which is the Year of Czech Music, will be celebrated by the Moravian Philharmonic on foreign stages in addition to concerts for domestic audiences. In May, she will be on tour with concerts in Budapest, Pécs, Varaždin and Dubrovnik in Croatia, and in the fall three trips to Poland to prestigious halls in Warsaw, Szczecin, Katowice and Gdańsk. At the beginning of 2025, he will visit the Swiss cities of Luzern and Basel and is currently preparing for a tour in the USA.

“We consider it important to support regional projects and entities and help them in their meritorious activities or development. We always carefully consider the selection in cooperation with the city, so that our support goes where it is needed,” Kamil Vrbka, director of the Morava region of Veolia Energie ČR, was introduced as the general partner. “The Moravian Philharmonic in Olomouc is an important part of cultural and social events in Olomouc, and its foreign activities go beyond regional significance. We are honored to support one of the most important orchestras in the Czech Republic. We wish him much success at home and abroad.” highlighted director Vrbek.

Thanks to its unique attribute in the form of a universal musical language, the Moravian Philharmonic in Olomouc is a key actor in the field of (not only) cultural diplomacy of the city and the region. In addition to the primary activity, which is the provision of public cultural services in the form of concerts, educational activities and other projects, its important mission is precisely the presentation of Czech musical art and the representation of Olomouc abroad.

Part of the long-term strategy of the general partner of the Moravian Philharmonic in Olomouc, the leading energy producer and distributor of the company Veolia Energie ČR, is the support of non-profit entities and activities in the field of culture, sports and social services in the field of social responsibility. Veolia supplies the main energy commodities – heat and hot water – to 580,000 households and, together with electricity and other commodities such as cold, gas, compressed air and nitrogen, supplies them to more than 300 industrial enterprises and 1,800 facilities in the tertiary sector. Veolia Energie is also the first independent operator of the cooling network on the Czech market.

Moravian Philharmonic, Olomouc was founded in 1945 and is one of the leading and oldest symphony orchestras in the Czech Republic. Important personalities of the Czech and world music scene participated in its artistic development, including conductors Otto Klemperer and Václav Neumann, violinists Josef Suk and Gidon Kremer, and cellist Pierre Fournier. During its existence, it has created an extremely extensive and diverse repertoire. It mainly focuses on the great creators of world music of the 19th and 20th centuries, but it also promotes contemporary Czech and world music, as evidenced by the launch of more than 250 new releases. The orchestra also ranks among the authentic interpreters of the classics of Czech national musical culture: Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, Leoš Janáček and Bohuslav Martinů. The group has a rich discography and performs at important international music festivals at home and abroad. Above all, however, it is a cultural institution that plays a vital role in the organization of artistic and concert life in Olomouc and its surroundings. It organizes the Dvořák Olomouc Festival and the Olomouc International Organ Festival. Its activities also include a number of educational activities for children and young people.
