Everything will start already on Friday, May 10 at 5 p.m., when Daniel Švec’s lecture “King of the Air Josef Hubáček” will be held in the airport area. “Mr. Doctor’s lecture is very nicely prepared, and he will also present samples from the prepared book about Mr. Hubáček, which should be published this year,” invites the chairman of the Pošumavský aeroclub, Pavel Kratochvíl.

On Saturday, May 11, the airport will open to the public at 10 a.m., the program itself will start an hour later with a memorial service at the memorial plaque of Colonel Hubáček. Pošumavský Aeroklub has prepared a varied offer in cooperation with Pink Skyvan CZ. One of the attractions will undoubtedly be the historic airplanes with which the Classic Trainers association from Líní near Pilsen will fly to Klatov. When everything clicks, spectators can look forward to the Boeing B75 Stearman, Morane-Saulnier MS-880 and Pilatus P2-05. “They are beautiful old planes, e.g. the Stearman is from 1943, it is a well-known biplane and at the same time the basic training aircraft of the US Air Force,” Classic Trainers chairman Jiří Horák informed Deník. We can also reveal that with the aircraft, which has a coloring from the time when this type was practiced at the De Winton airport in the province of Alberta in Canada, the future Czech Republic. fighter pilots of the RAF, a woman – pilot Olga Benešová – will fly to Klatov. “The Pilatus is a Swiss training aircraft that was created after the war. It has a link to the Czech industry, because the Argus engine, made in the Czech Republic, is installed in it,” added Horák, another interesting fact.

“Throughout the day, we will also offer sightseeing flights for the public, on our Zlín 43 aircraft. They will be short, fifteen minutes long, so that as many interested people as possible can take turns, and also because it happens to be May 11, the 95th anniversary of Hubáček’s first a solo flight that lasted exactly 15 minutes,” recalled Kratochvíl.

People in Zhůří also remembered the fate of American soldiers as part of the liberation celebrations

The Czech RAF are also definitely worth mentioning. “They have prepared commented examples of the period camp, they have a very nice exhibition of RAF pilot artefacts. Part of the program is also a demonstration of a briefing of what it looked like in England during the war years among pilots. The RAF officers are dressed in period uniforms, it’s very nice and authentic,” revealed Kratochvíl.
