A warm, albeit cloudy week awaits the Czech Republic. Temperatures will generally stay above zero at night, but ground frosts may appear in the second half of the week. Meteorologists also warned of thunderstorms. In total, over 50 millimeters of rain could occasionally fall in the Czech Republic by Tuesday morning, and intense precipitation may fluctuate the levels of some smaller rivers. This follows from the weekly forecast and current notice of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ).

The storm warning applies to southern Bohemia, Vysočina and Moravia. Thunderstorms can be accompanied by up to two-centimeter hail, wind gusts of around 70 km/h and short-term intense precipitation. “In the north of Vysočina, the soil is more saturated after yesterday (Sunday) and possible recurring intense rainfall could already cause problems with water drainage in the countryside,” meteorologists said in the afternoon on https://twitter.com/CHMUCHMI/status/1787437168547246288.

According to the CHMÚ forecast, rain or showers will occur throughout the week, with the exception of Thursday, when it will be clear to partly cloudy. There will be isolated showers on Friday and the weekend.

After a weekend with temperatures reaching almost 27 degrees, it will cool down this week. Today, according to the forecast, it will still be 17 to 22 degrees and in the southeast of the country up to 25 degrees. The maximum will be 19 degrees on Tuesday and the maximum 18 degrees on Wednesday.

In the second half of the week, temperatures will rise again. On Thursday and Friday, it will be 17 to 21 degrees Celsius during the day and 16 to 21 degrees Celsius at the weekend. At night, temperatures will mostly stay a few degrees above zero throughout the week, but ground frosts may appear in places from Thursday. “Drier and cooler air will begin to move in from the northeast during Tuesday and Wednesday night. There will be more sunshine, but at night we have to count on lower temperatures between seven and two degrees Celsius, on the ground and with ground frosts, which will last until the weekend in some places,” said the ČHMÚ on the X network.

After the temperature fluctuations of the previous months, meteorologists expect average temperatures in May. “A relatively calmer spell of weather awaits us over the next four-week period, with temperatures in line with the long-term average for this time of year,” they said in their monthly forecast.
