Demolition of the largest building, a seven-story building, has started. “We start demolition today, the end of demolition of this “hell” should be May 25. Then we will continue, in September we would like to have a building permit and start building. But before that, we still have to buy back the city land, that process will start after the demolition of this “hell”. We would like that to be enough until the summer,Ivan Hlaváček, executive of Intercora, who personally participated in the beginning of the demolition, revealed to QAP.

The mayor of the city of Pilsen, Roman Zarzycký, also arrived at the site, who marked the beginning of the demolition as the end of the nineties in Pilsen. People from the management of Pilsen Four or representatives of the construction company were also present.
“First of all, I would like to thank Ivan Hlaváček and the company InterCora, which cooperates with us and negotiates intensively. We will start demolition today and I am very happy about that. This act ends the nineties,” stated just before the start of the demolition, the mayor of the city of Pilsen, Roman Zarzycký.
There were years of problems with the building, which was actually never fully completed. And the problematic situation is also with land. Part of the land here is also owned by the city of Pilsen, but it will sell it to the investor only after the demolition. It is not yet clear at what price the investor will buy them. “The price is agreed in the memorandum, but it is now said that it will be precisely determined by an expert opinion at the time of the buyout. Considering that we are not far from signing the memorandum, the price should be approximately the same, only a little higher.” Ivan Hlaváček added.
“After the investor fulfills the basic conditions, I am ready to bring to the council, probably this June, an amendment to the memorandum that was created during the previous coalition, and we will sell the affected city territory and municipal land to the investor. I am glad that Mr. Hlaváček kept his word and ordered a demolition company,” added Roman Zarzycký.
Intercora wants to build a shopping center on the site after the demolition. “This is a shopping center including a large supermarket, there will be fast food and other retail spaces. And then the company BC Real will deliver apartments by the Úslava river. That’s why we also named the department store Úslava,” added Hlaváček. Construction should be fast, according to the plan it could open by Christmas 2025.
Another investor is BC Real, this company is to build apartments in the place. “Approximately 250 apartments will be built in the back part by the Úslava river. In the front, a multifunctional building that will include shops, offices and also residential units. The investor is BC Real, the documentation is being created,” explained Pavel Šindelář from the Intercora company.
The demolition of the building does not take place with a “cannonball”, the excavators have to dismantle it all gradually, the reason being different types of material. “This object is assembled from different types of material. We had to clear the building of Styrofoam. In today’s age of recycling, every material will be recycled. This means that we will recycle the polystyrene and it will be given back to the manufacturer. Demolition will proceed gradually, parts of different units will be demolished,” explained Petr Březina from the company APB Plzeň, which carries out the demolition.
It was the APB company that was at the start of construction in the 1990s. “We took part in the construction of part of the site and the earthwork, and now we’re waiting for it to be demolished again,” added Březina.
