“This year, a record number of 58 cooperatives applied to us in the Olomouc district, which we are very happy about. Another thing that pleased us is the weather. Despite the forecasts, except for a short drizzle, it didn’t rain at all,” boasted tournament guarantor Jaroslav Vraštil.

“This year is nothing special. However, it successfully followed on from the previous one, when the category of small classes was introduced for the first time, in which even more teams signed up this year. I also know that many schools did not have time to apply, which is a shame. There could have been a little more of them. All this just shows that this tournament has great potential for years to come,” he added.

In addition to the victorious ZŠ Heyrovského and ZŠ Vítězná in Litovla, which despite its name lost to its opponent in the final, teams from other Olomouc bases Hálkova and Rožňavská, as well as from surrounding towns and villages, such as Šternberk, Velký Týnec, Luká, made it to the district final. , Velká Bystřice and Grygov.

As it was already written above, in the final, the units of Heyrovského Primary School and Lithuanian Primary School Vítězná faced each other. And the course was, as expected, unequivocal. The final result was 6:1 and Heyrováci can look forward to participating in the regional final, which will take place in a week, on Tuesday, May 14, at the Tyrš stadium in Šumperk.

“It was definitely an excellent tournament for us, which we are a regular participant in and we are glad that it is still working. I give great praise to the organizers, who managed it very well,” said Michal Suchánek, the teacher and also the coach of the winners, after the end of the event, and continued: “We confirmed our above-standard quality and advanced without any problems. For me personally, the advancement is more like a duty fulfilled , but not for the boys. Every year we start with a different class, so it’s always something special for them.”

The winner of the regional final will go on to represent his region at the national final, which will take place on June 3 and 4 in the newly built Malšovická Arena in Hradec Králové, where the current super-rival Sigma from Olomouc plays its home first league matches. Of course, the fighters from Heyrovského are grinding their teeth and according to their coach, they would definitely like to improve the last two ninth places there.

“Of course, we would like to finally improve these positions. On the other hand, we are not yet in the national finals, and we will have to do our best to get there. But I believe that this year we definitely have the team for it,” concluded Michal Suchánek.
