On the Prague ring road, a truck overturned over the guardrails, restricting both directions

“Prague police officers, together with the Prague fire brigade and the medical rescue service, are currently responding to a truck accident on the Prague ring road 1.8 km in the direction of the D5. The vehicle is lying on its side and the driver is currently being extricated. Traffic is restricted in the area and only the parking lane is open in both directions,” the Police of the Czech Republic said on the X network shortly before 11 a.m.

A column was formed on the spot, which was about 1.5 kilometers long. “The patient is wedged in, conscious,” said Monika Nováková, spokeswoman for the Central Bohemian Ambulance Service.

At 11:48 a.m., the firefighters handed over the injured driver to the rescuers after they managed to get him out of the crashed truck. “He has injuries to his pelvis and abdomen, he is breathing. Paramedics treated the patient and are taking him to the Motol General Hospital,” Nováková informed later.

At 12:20 p.m., according to their spokesman, the central Bohemian fire department handed over the accident site to the police and the road maintenance department. An investigation is underway and the restoration of traffic depends on the speed of the crane and the heavy equipment that tows the vehicle.

“Around 1:30 p.m., the police opened two lanes in the direction of D1, one lane in the direction of D5, the restriction will last for about four hours,” police spokeswoman Eva Kropáčová announced. “At the moment, the load is being unloaded from the truck, then it will be placed on the wheels with a crane,” added Kropáčová for iDNES.cz shortly before 3 p.m.

According to her, all traffic lanes will likely be blocked again during the construction maneuver using the crane. The restriction should last at least 18 hours, estimates Kropáčová.

Two kilometers from the first accident, a Porsche crashed after the entrance to the Prague ring road from the village of Vestec towards the airport. The vehicle hit the guardrails and also damaged one truck in the parking lane. It has a broken front. According to police spokeswoman Kropáčová, the driver had minor injuries. A breath test was negative.

The scene of the accident was passable with one lane, now the dopravniinfo.cz server no longer records the removal of the accident.
