The police, firefighters and paramedics fought for the life of the seriously injured young man, but unfortunately they had no chance

Last night around eleven o’clock there was a very serious traffic accident in Jáchymovská Street in Karlovy Vary, during which a Škoda passenger car literally flew over the guardrails and ended up on a slope.
It was reported from the scene that two people were seriously injured, so all emergency services went to the accident.

Police officers from the district department of Karlovy Vary – Rybář were the first to arrive, and they immediately started resuscitation on the unconscious 21-year-old passenger.

Unfortunately, it turned out that the young man had suffered extensive injuries incompatible with life, so it was no longer possible to help him and the doctor could only state his death.
The other young man who was driving the vehicle escaped practically unharmed and both were Ukrainians.

“The rescuers continued the indirect cardiac massage that had been started, but unfortunately, due to extensive injuries, the man’s vital functions could not be restored,” a spokesman for the rescuers confirmed to us.

“After arriving at the scene of the incident, the firefighters from the Karlovy Vary station together with their police colleagues started resuscitation attempts, which they continued even after the arrival of the rescue service crew until the doctor concluded that the person could no longer be helped. The firefighters then secured the accident site, traffic was completely closed during the rescue work and subsequent investigation of the accident by the police,” a fire department spokesman said.

The police spokesman then described to us how the accident happened: “The 21-year-old driver of a Škoda vehicle driving through Jáchymovská street apparently did not adjust his speed when passing a left-turning bend and the vehicle skidded. He subsequently crashed into the concrete guardrails, which he broke through and then crashed into the slope.”

It turned out that one of the causes of the accident was the driver’s heavy drunkenness. “Police officers performed an indicative breath test for the presence of alcohol on the 21-year-old driver, which came out with a positive result of 2.03 per thousand. Karlovy Vary criminal investigators have initiated criminal proceedings in the matter on suspicion of committing the crime of manslaughter by negligence and the offense of endangerment under the influence of a narcotic substance,” added the police spokesperson, stating that the exact cause and circumstances of the traffic accident are still under investigation by criminal investigators.
