On Wednesday, the Czech Republic commemorates Victory Day – the end of World War II. President Petr Pavel, Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) will visit a memorial service in Prague’s Vítkov, several open days are also held, among others in the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Prague metro is also planning an event on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. CNN Prima NEWS brings live broadcasts with a series of interviews throughout the day.

On Wednesday, a memorial service will be held in Prague’s Vítkov on the occasion of the Victory Day celebration. It will be attended by President Petr Pavel, Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS), Defense Minister Jana Černochová (ODS), Chief of the General Staff Karel Řehka and others. It will include a flyover of airplanes and helicopters of the Air Force of the Army of the Czech Republic. CNN Prima NEWS will bring live coverage of the celebrations.

The public holiday will also offer other events, such as open house days. People will be able to visit the Senate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The first visitors will be welcomed by Senate President Miloš Vystrčil (ODS). He will then take part in a memorial service in Olšany from 2 p.m. to honor the memory of the victors over Nazism – the soldiers of the 1st, 2nd and 4th Ukrainian Front units who liberated Czechoslovakia.

The Hrzánský palác and the Chamber of Deputies will also be open from 9 am. The first visitors will be welcomed by the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Markéta Pekarová Adamová (TOP 09). The Prague metro is also planning an extraordinary event to mark the 50th anniversary. On line C, all metro trains will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

At 12 o’clock, the ceremonial appointment of new generals by President Petr Pavlo will take place. Vystrčil and Fiala will also be present at the ceremony.
