“The police believed that the vehicle was overloaded and asked the driver for a check-weighing. But the 33-year-old driver refused the call, saying that he would rather pay the fine,” said the spokesman.

For refusing to subject the vehicle to a weighted inspection, the police fined the man the maximum possible amount of 100,000 crowns. “The foreigner agreed, reached for his backpack, took out his wallet, and paid the entire amount in cash,” stated Hejtman.

According to him, the reason why the driver behaved this way is clear. “He was apparently sure that the set was overloaded, in such a way that the penalty from the administrative body could be significantly more noticeable. It depends on the level of congestion,” the spokesperson noted.

According to him, the police patrol forbade the man to continue driving until he ensured that part of the load was transferred. Since the middle of April this year, police officers have been using a modern portable scale for low-speed weighing of trucks in Jesenice, which they received from the Olomouc Region.
